Today, we’re excited to share Bella’s inspiring story and her incredible gut-healing marshmallow recipe. Bella’s journey has been a testament to the power of nourishing foods, particularly animal-based ingredients, and how they can transform health from the inside out.
Bella’s Health Journey
Bella’s story began with a long struggle with chronic acne, which she faced for years while following a vegetarian/vegan diet. After numerous failed attempts to cleanse and detox her way to better skin, she realized that true healing starts from nourishment. When she made the shift back to animal products, incorporating nutrient-dense superfoods like collagen, beef protein isolate, and colostrum, she saw her skin transform. Her experience taught her the importance of feeding her body with the right nutrients, particularly for healing the gut and, in turn, the skin.
One of Bella’s favorite ways to incorporate these gut-healing ingredients into her daily routine is through her high-protein, gut-friendly marshmallows. Using ingredients like gelatine and Organised’s all-in-one superfood powder, Bella has created a recipe that’s not only delicious but also packed with nutrition.
High Protein, Gut-Healing Marshmallows
These marshmallows are more than just a sweet treat – they’re loaded with gut-healing goodness thanks to the amino acids glycine and glutamine, collagen, and colostrum found in the Organised powder. Gelatine, the star ingredient, plays a crucial role in healing and sealing the gut lining. Traditionally, this would have come from gelatinous cuts of meat, but in today’s world, we often need to supplement with collagen or gelatine to reap these benefits.
Bella’s recipe takes the classic marshmallow up a notch by including egg whites for an extra boost of protein, making this treat both blood sugar-friendly and packed with nutrients.
Recipe: High Protein Marshmallows
Ingredients:
• 3 tbsp grass-fed gelatine powder
• ½ cup water
• 3 organic, pasture-raised egg whites
• 5 tbsp raw honey
• ½ tsp vanilla extract
• 1 scoop of Organised powder
Method:
1. Start by blooming the gelatine: Add the gelatine to a bowl with water and set aside for 10 minutes.
2. Whisk the egg whites in a separate bowl until they form soft, fluffy peaks.
3. In a saucepan, heat the gelatine mixture until it dissolves into a liquid.
4. Add the liquid gelatine to the egg whites, along with the honey, vanilla, and Organised powder. Whisk until the mixture becomes thick and fluffy, resembling marshmallow fluff.
5. Quickly pour the mixture into a pre-prepared square dish that’s lightly greased with butter or coconut oil. Smooth with a spatula (it sets fast, so be quick!).
6. Pop it into the fridge for a couple of hours to set. Once firm, cut into squares.
7. (Optional) Sprinkle with arrowroot powder or cornstarch for that classic powdery finish.
Enjoying Bella’s Marshmallows
These marshmallows are packed with protein and nutrients, making them the perfect snack on their own when you need a pick-me-up. However, Bella recommends adding them to a hot mug of homemade raw milk or cream hot chocolate for a rich, indulgent treat. They also make a great addition to your morning coffee for a nutrient-dense boost.
Pro tip: Save the egg yolks and whip them with a little sugar to create a custard-like texture that can be added to hot drinks. Egg yolks are a powerhouse of nutrients like choline and Vitamins A and D!
